Yet Again

After work last night I came back to the hotel and figured out what I was going to do. Yup. Dinner and a meeting. There is no place I would have rather been than in a room with a bunch of people that understand me. So off I went to get some pho and then drove down the street to a meeting. As I was driving down the road I noticed a guy putting out a sign and it was our logo. I was like wow talk about marking the path!

It was just like all of the other times. I walked into the meeting not knowing a single person. I stood there and within seconds a group member introduced themselves to me. Ah I was home yet again. It wasn’t long before the meeting started and as a visitor I was able to watch all of the same things that happen in my home group happen in this home group. It was just like being at home.

I spoke up and thanked the group for being there for me. There is nothing better than being able to travel and go to other meetings. The beauty is that we are all part of a life-saving fellowship that works. It has saved the lives of so many addicts all over the world.

After the meeting I got the local meeting list and was told about another meeting tonight. I got a phone number and gave my phone number-connection. I drove down El Camino Real and felt cool, calm, and connected. I listened to music and experienced the freedom that so many members before me talked about.

I see this working in the lives of so many of my friends both the friends I have and the friends I have yet to meet. This program and the spiritual principals, the steps, a higher power, sponsorship, fellowship and the lot has never let me down. I am learning that the only thing that lets me down is my thinking, my actions, expectations and the pressure that I put on myself.

Anyone can have this it is not reserved for certain people. As I have heard so many times…If you want what we have then do what we do…Our message is hope and our promise is freedom from active addiction. What a blessing…

I am so grateful for all of the blessings that I have in my life today. My friends that love and care for me. My job. My sponsor. My family. The program. My Higher Power. I had none of these things in my life before I found this program and I am so grateful that people didn’t give up on me throughout my process.

I am not here alone anymore. Today I am surrounded by the love that brought me to this point in the first place. I am truly grateful.
