I recently read the book “Return To Love” by Marianne Williamson. While it took me awhile to read the book and a couple of failed attempts I found it to be a great source of information about courage and love. The following is found at the end of the book:
Dear God,
I give this day to you, the fruits of my labor and the desires of my hear. In your hands I place all questions, on your shoulders I place all burdens. I pray for my brothers and for myself. May we return to love. May our minds be healed. May we all be blessed. May we find our way back from the pain to peace, from fear to love, from hell to Heaven.
Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
For Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory.
Forever and ever.
Amen.
There were plenty of other good things from that book, and that is literally the end of the book. I was really moved and thought about how great that would be to say everyday. Not putting too much thought into it, with book in hand, I started reading that aloud during the time in the morning when I pray.
It didn’t take very long for me to memorize it and then I started to change it a bit. I removed the Kingdom come stuff (but sometimes I put it back). I also also added the names of people that came into my mind when I said “I pray for my brothers…”. This has really helped because I usually put people that are pissing me off in here and that helps me get through the day with them since I started the day off praying for them!
OK that was all just background. I decided this morning to actually read the 4th step. In the process of reading that step I read the following:
…Whether we are writing our first inventory or our twentieth, we are starting a process that takes us from confusion to clarity, from resentment to forgiveness, from spiritual confinement to spiritual freedom.
Sound familiar? I won’t think to much about it-I am on the path.
