Wow. What a great day. I got up went to work. I got a lot done at work: Talked to people, asked questions, learned some new things. I even planned a vacation with a good friend today!
I decided to ride my bike to the meeting so that I would be able to get home in time for a meeting. So after the meeting I was talking with a few friends and then I looked over and said “What did someone steal my bike?”
Sure enough it was gone. I was looking at the fence that I chained it to like the bike would suddenly appear. Like it was a joke and someone was going to come around the corner and say “Just Kidding! Here is your bike!” No one came around the corner, but I did have a lot of friends there that care about me.
What is completely odd is that I am not mad. I like the bike and I still consider it mine, but it is no longer in my possession. My Dad bought me that bike when I first got clean so it had sentimental value (it was a nice bike).
It really sucks that people have to steal. It sucked even more when I had to steal. What sucked the worse was when I stole and didn’t even realize I was stealing.
I am truly amazed at the way that I feel right now. I feel like I should be pissed off and freaking out, but I guess I am powerless over that too. I am going to file a police report because that is what a productive member of society is suppose to do when something is stolen. I am not doing it because I think anything will happen, but I do plenty of stuff I don’t necessarily want to do :).
Well off to do that now. Wish me well…
Ode to My Stolen Bike
OH shiny blue thing
without a bell to ring
as I rode you I would often sing
DING DING DING
OH pretty bike
there was none alike
then a desperate tyke
came took the bike
of which there was none alike
You are gone but not forgotten
I will remember the times that I rode you
And remember the times you rode me
Through and through you got me where I needed to go
I oiled you and gave you new pedals
I put air in your tires
You are my friend
I hope to see you soon
It is up to you to help someone else now
Thank you!
