I got in at about 11am and went to the front desk of the hotel. They told me my room wasn’t ready so I asked where everything was and they told me to go upstairs. I walked up there signed in and then looked over to my left and saw Liz sitting there! It was great to see her we talked for a bit and then across the room I saw Michon! I ran over and gave him a hug and we caught up and he got me caught up with what was coming up next.
I grabbed some food and then headed over to the teachers meeting. I met Josh and Jenna who own a studio over in Canada somewhere a place that really needed a studio. They have a little baby named Arjuna (great name). I was walking around and then ran into Steve 23 and Juicy and we walked over to the teacher meeting room which was coincidentally named Newport :>.
We walked in and the first person I saw was Lynn. The whole crew was there many people that were at my teacher training in San Diego. I felt perfectly comfortable walking across the room and sitting down on the floor. Lots of talk and then we got broken up into our posture clinic groups. I was assigned to be with Juicy and we all went off to our respective rooms.
Posture clinic was great. Juicy has run many posture clinic groups so I paid close attention to what she was doing and as the students were delivering dialogue I wrote down my feedback and compared it to the things that Juicy said. In a lot of cases we mentioned similar things. It wasn’t long before Juicy said “Do you want to do the next one.” I was like “Yes.” I said it with confidence but I didn’t feel that confident. I was totally nervous, but whatever I immediately thought about the hanging rappel I had to set up in Rumney the other day. I was scared shitless realizing that if I screwed up and unhooked the wrong rope or if my slings gave out I would be dead.
Everything went fine and we all kept switching off. It was great.
I thought class was 5:30 so I grabbed a smoothie at 4 and then realized class was at 5! Shit! I ran around and got ready and was downstairs and saw Raj and Judes! I got my mat set up and said hi to Jacob and then Adrienne came over and we started talking with Henri who is from my training last year. The room was big hot and humid, but it didn’t have the same feel as our tent. I setup right in front of this big heater duct. When I put my arms over my head they were burning. I was going to move but it was too late Raj was there and class was starting! Gulp!
What a class! I was focused concentrated and determined. I was so connected to her words and just listening to her and doing the postures. I got in my head a bit about being the best and pushing myself and then I started thinking “Really Aaron that is not what this is about…” I’m not perfect and I have an ego. Generally for me when it comes out in the yoga room I hurt myself. I noticed by lower back was hurting on the left side. I let it go and did the postures to the best of my ability. I’m still sore today but its just soreness…
After class I met Ben from Austrailia and Jill from I don’t know where. Walking back to the room I talked with Dana from Toronto about her knee that was hurting. By the way she was the other teaching in my posture clinic room. She has a studio in Toronto with a guy named Damien who I also met.
Back to the room to get ready for dinner and then lecture! I met up with Henri and we headed to In-Out burger! Yea! Good conversation about dialogue and life and then over to Ralphs to stock up for the week.
I got everything settled and then headed to the lecture hall for a bit of anatomy. There I met Toni-Joe and Suzanne from Vegas. They were really cool!
Off to bed for me…the room has one of those sleep number beds so I played with it for awhile but think it is broken of something because it didn’t seem to be working right….
I finally got to sleep at like 11:45 or so….
