Time to start fresh…I’ve got a huge database of stuff that I’ve written over the years. All of that stuff can be found at http://archive.p0v.net . I’ve managed to upgrade through drupal 4, 5, and 6 releases, but the upgrade from drupal 6 to drupal 7 was turning into a pain in the ass. In the end I decided to archive the old site and start anew. This time I’m only going to install certain contributed so as not to cause problems down the road. I suppose what is most important is that I’m able to create and access my data.
I was able to get the system upgraded but I was getting all sorts of PHP errors on the site after the upgrade. I just can’t be bothered anymore to try and sort that stuff out. I really don’t care and don’t want to waste my time on silly stuff like that. Yea maybe I’m giving up but I’d prefer to think of it as choosing my battles :).
Nevertheless Drupal 7 is pretty sexy. I really love the new administrative interface. I’ve finally had the time to go through all of the options and get everything set up. As of right now I’ve got the following contributed modules installed:
CCK
Views
Date
CTools
FullCalendar to be replaced with Calendar
I think that is it. Like I said I’m gonna keep it simple. I really don’t need anything fancy for this site since it just holds my blog/yoga entries. On that note I’m not going to be creating other content types other than blog entries. There really isn’t a point and I can put all of the data about my ‘yoga’ day into the blog content type.
I guess this post has turned into somewhat of a mission statement or direction for me to follow about the site :). If I hadn’t just paid for another year of service for VPS hosting through linode (http://www.linode.com) I may have considered converting to drupal gardens so that I don’t have to deal with managing this stuff anymore. Although I suppose it isn’t a bad idea to keep my skills sharp, or, at least somewhat in tact.
