Pure Awesomeness

Well I told my climbing parter that I would start writing about climbing so here goes…Basically I just want to jot a few things down so that I can look back and mark progress, or just note how I was feeling and whatnot…

Bouldering:

V0+ – Red
V1+ – ??
V3 – Green Didn’t finish this route in one piece
V2+ – Blue

Routes Climbed:

5.8+ lead – Green EPH
5.9+ lead – Pure Awesomeness Blue
5.10a TR – Green
5.10c/d TR – White
5.10a TR – Brown
5.10a TR – Purple Black
5.10d TR – Red – didn’t finish

We started off with a nice EPH route that was a bit pumpy but doable. This was a modified version of another route EPH had put up on the same wall. I was actually surprised with my strength on this one and my clips felt solid the whole way up.

PA is a really challenging route with six clips to the LO. The crux move is in a roofed corner that you have to clip on. Both Pal and I took some good falls here and it was work to get passed that spot.

Liam realized that he could take long breaks in between climbing otherwise his muscles would give out on him.

Pal and I continued climbing but just decided to TR instead of lead. Pal rocked out on the 5.10c/d and gave some good suggestions as how to get past the second crux without swinging like a monkey :). I had a much easier time with this route than I did the first time I tried it.

I finished off totally pumping out trying to do three routes in a row. I was totally gassed and didn’t do the second or third route clean (I didn’t even finish the third route), but it felt good to just burn out.

We finished bouldering a bit…It was a good night of climbing and I feel like we are continuing to get better.

I am off next week so looking forward to the week after!
