On and Off

Sometimes it is a little of this and a little of that…What is the trick to consistency? Is there some intrisic property of it that I am missing? Either I am on or I am off, or maybe I neither of the two but judgement makes it so. Who knows. I sure don’t…

I had to come into work on a Saturday (ug!) I don’t like that very much, but yet here I am…I could have left over an hour about but no I just continue to sit here and screw around. I suppose it isn’t all that bad since I am actually updating my journal.

For what it is worth I bought a new computer the other day! Yippie! My first new computer. It sort of reminds me of that Ren & Stimpy episode when Ren buys Stimpy a new cat litter box and Stimpy is all proud and says “My first material possesion” It was truly touching :>.

Interestingly enough a friend asked me what I would need a computer that fast for? Fair enough question right? Sure. So I had to think about it since, well, I am not a number cruncher, or a seeker of some higher level of being that would honestly require that much computing power. That is one of the main reasons I have never bought a new computer I honestly never really needed one, but then again I generally never had the money to buy one and if I did I was most certainly not spending it on a computer.

So anyway I need a plan for my new computer otherwise it will be useless right?

Plans for my new computer:

1. Arts & Graphics

2. Games (Maybe)

3. Linux Kernel Development (I am just putting this here to sound cool.)

Now to the real special bit of rationalization. If one day you are sitting there and realize because your current computer is just fucking pissing you off or just not capable of browsing the internet, being a mailserver, and editing a fucking photo you will be in the same situation I was. You will then start looking for a computer and realize “Wow all of these computers are better than the one I have right now.”

The long and short of it is the second you go into the “I need a new computer” market you will be getting something that will last you “A long fucking time(tm)”.

If you do your homework figure out what it is you need and what it is you don’t need you will not be moved by such questions even if you can’t directly say what it is you intend to do with the thing you just purchased. The reality for me is I was in the market for a new computer and I got just that, a new computer. Now it is up to me figure out what to do with it next, and I am sure I won’t have a problem figuring that out.
