I woke up this morning smelling something that smelt like oil, but I’m not really sure.
Last night I got back from the climbing gym and made some dinner, did my chores, and went straight to bed. I was tossing up the idea of going to yoga this morning but when the alarm went off I just kept hitting snooze :). I am so grateful that I didn’t go through some crazy process. I just let myself sleep. In doing so I realized that I hadn’t paid my rent yet and was able to do that and also work on my sixth step.
About the gym…
I have been climbing really well lately. It seems, to me anyway, like my skill has sharply increased. About a year ago there was no way that I could have flashed a 10a without a bit of flailing and hang-dogging. Now I am definitely flashing 10a’s and also able to get to the top of 11a’s (well there have only been a few that I have tried).
I am well aware of the fact that grading is totally subjective. What I have been noticing is how my body just seems to do it. Yes I think while I am climbing but for the most part I stay out of it.
I lead my project route which is a very step over-hanging 10a. It is really burly and has a pretty crazy finish. I got the ending OK but struggled around the third clip as I went out of sequence. My clips were really good, fast and solid.
There is also a 9+ that I am working but I don’t like that route as much as the 10a.
Yoga has definitely loosened my hips to the point that I can do so pretty cool movements. My left hip while still sore has gotten much better since I went back to yoga.
Will be hiking this week in VT. So I am interested to see how my hip fares after that…high impact week this week so I will have to scale it back next week to recover a bit.
..Don’t think just do…
