Morphine – Gone for Good (Sandman)
I’m never going back never going back to you
I’m never going to see you again
I’m never going to dig out your picture
I’m never going to look you up someday
Life is very short
You don’t love me anymore
So I’m never going to see you again
I’m never going to write you a letter
Never going to call you on the phone
I’m never going to drive by your house
I’m never going to catch you coming outside
Never going to walk up your walk
And ring your bell
And feel you fall into my arms
I’m never going to see you
I’m never going to see you
I’m never going to see you again
You’re gone for good

You know man when I first heard this song, like really heard it, I thought it was about heroin. I suppose back then just about everything was about heroin. You know how it goes my friends you gotta get the “hero in”. Especially during those times I was trying to stop this song was a way for me to let go of the thing that I loved so very much and at the same time romanticize our love.
Years later and in recovery it isn’t about heroin but about a woman. Ahh just manifestations of whatever I’m attached to…let it go…
Deleted some shit about being good…
Anyway I just wanted to commemorate the song and at the same time acknowledge the loss and mistreatment that I have experienced in the last month or so. Relationships can be a terribly painful area for addicts. Nevertheless I didn’t use and I am finally starting to feel some freedom around everything. For that I am grateful.
