Dropped Knee

Fitting title last nights climbing session as it seemed like so many problems required the ‘dropped knee’. For all of you non-climbers out there dropping the knee often puts one in a more advantageous position for being able to get to the next hold.

I met Pal at about ten past 7 and we started off bouldering.

Warm-ups

v1

No problem on the warm ups so I moved on to some tougher problems. Pal had been there for a bit so I was trying to catch up to him :).

v2 Green

(I think) This was a strengthy problem with an interesting move to get to the top. I did it slightly different than Pal, and failed on my first attempt but got it on the second try.

v3+ Black

Very tough problem with a big blue sloper for both hands and then is followed by a gaston to the left (tough move). Once you get a good purchase on the left hold you can get your right foot up to a good yellow hold. Top out was weird and difficult I had no thoughts in my mind when I was up there I was just asking Pal what to do next :).

v4 Red

Cave problem!?!? Uggg…I was really impressed with how far I got on the problem, but this one goes from one side of the cave to the other. All of the holds are pretty big and the crux is a crappy left hand to a dropped right knee and then a powerful right hand.

Didn’t finish this one but will try it next time…

v3 Blue

Nice problem of all slopers. I have no clue how I stuck the last move which is definitely the crux using features from the wall itself.

v3+ black/yellow

I tried the first move of this one but it involved a crazy heel hook that I didn’t want to do since I was cramping up already.

v1 Yellow

Pal and I struggled with this one but both of us were like screw it…:)

v3 Teal

Cave start to a nice right hand, match and then right hand out. For me I was able to drop my right knee and then reach really far to a hold and then stem out. This one required a slow move right hand cross through which I can’t believe I got…

v4 Red Jump Start

Ouch…work in progress…

If all of this wasn’t enough Pal had the great idea of climbing a few routes :).

11a

Tough start to a crazy hard drop knee and some powerful moves on the crux. Work in progress

5.8/5.9

Pal and I ran up and down these to routes to finish the night off.

Few sets of handstands. Wow what a great night of climbing!
